Giving Back Is Important [old]
W E B E L I E V E that it's important to help those around us who are less fortunate or those who are going through a rough time in life. We all get there from time-to-time, and it feels good to know that someone cares. For these and many other reasons, we feel that it's important to give back.
Our goal is to leave the world better than we found it. Fine jewelry with beautiful stones is the vehicle we have chosen to achieve this goal. Our jewelry is hand crafted with intention to send positive energy into the world. Donating a portion of each of our sales to charity multiplies that energy.
E A C H Y E A R we select a different organization to receive donations from our sales. The only exception is the Alzheimer's Foundation. We always donate a portion of each Forget-Me-Not sale to the Richmond chapter because of how important this foundation and their work is to us. The story behind the Forget-Me-Not can be found in this blog. The Richmond chapter of the Alzheimer's Foundation is dedicated to research for the prevention, cure, and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, education of professionals and the general public regarding the nature of the disease, and provision of support and assistance to those with the disease and their families. You can learn more by visiting their site here.
T H I S Y E A R we are proud to be donating a portion of all other sales to FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by hereditary breast, ovarian, and related cancers. They encourage everyone to know their cancer risk and, if appropriate, to get genetic testing and take preventative action if possible. You can read about them here.
G I V I N G B A C K isn't reserved just for our fellow humans. It's also important to take care of our four-legged friends. To that end, we serve on the board of a non-profit organization called K Kids Dachshund Rescue. It's dedicated to saving dachshunds and dachshund mixes in Virginia and nearby states. Again, we are not on this planet alone. We encourage you to do your part as well. It can be as simple as a kind word or a helping hand. Perform a random act of kindness today. Not only will doing so help someone else; it will also help you.
