Whether you’re celebrating with your own children or you’re celebrating someone who has mothered you in some way, there are lots of ways to celebrate Mother’s Day that don’t involve flowers and candy.
So, how do you celebrate Mother’s Day? While flowers and candy are traditional gifts, here are a few other suggestions to make Mom feel special.
1. A phone call.
Did you know more phone calls are made on Mother’s Day than any other day of the year? These holiday chats with Mom often cause phone traffic to spike by as much as 37 percent. I know I’m guilty of “meaning to call.” Nothing makes a mother feel as special as a phone call from one of her children. This Mother’s Day, take the time to make the call. It’s a small gesture that makes a huge impact.
2. A mani-pedi.
Getting a manicure and pedicure is a special treat for most of us. Why not share that special time with your mother? You can chat and catch up in a relaxing environment while being pampered.
3. Dinner and a movie.
Treat Mom to a special night of dinner at her favorite restaurant followed by a movie of her choice. You can chat over dinner and enjoy each other’s company in the movie whether it be laughing at a comedy, crying at a romance movie, or screaming at a thriller.
4. A massage or spa day.
Most moms are very busy and often don’t take the time to treat themselves to the gift of time and luxury. Here’s your chance to do that for her. You can either send mom off to a relaxing day at the spa, spend the day at the spa with her relaxing and catching up, or give her the gift of a nice soothing massage. Either way, your mother will be rejuvenated at the end thanks to your special gift.
Flowers and candy are nice, but they don’t last. Give your mother something that will remind her of your love every time she wears it.
